Kristen Barlow, LCSW
Kristen is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the owner of River Trail Therapy in Naperville, Illinois. She enjoys helping children, teens, and young adults learn to regulate their emotions, improve their ability to be effective in relationships, and enhance their self-confidence.
A graduate of the University of Michigan School of Social Work in 2006, Kristen has 15 years of experience providing therapy to children, adolescents, teens, and adults in a variety of settings. Kristen worked in the community mental health field providing therapy to children and teens at their school prior to starting her own private practice.
Kristen believes in the power of play and uses play to help younger kiddos regulate their emotions, improve their ability to connect with other people, and enhance their self-confidence. In her work, Kristen primarily utilizes play therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy with her clients. She works with children and teens who experience depression, anxiety, ADHD, disordered eating, trauma, perfectionism, self-harm, and suicidal thoughts. Kristen enjoys helping her clients discover and get comfortable in their authentic, favorite version of themselves.
Kristen is a lover of hip-hop music. She is known to dance in her kitchen and in public places where she is most likely to embarrass her husband and four children.
