Shannon Lengerich Suffoletto is a Board Certified Dance/Movement Therapist (BC-DMT) and Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC). Shannon takes a preventative, holistic wellness approach to healing, centered around the mind/body connection. She employs creative, trauma-informed, neurobiologically based approaches to achieving one's very best version of themselves.  Shannon sees the creativity, beauty and potential in each individual and helps them access it within themselves. She loves to work with clients on setting goals and move toward achieving them as they heal from the past and find balance in the now and the future ahead of them.

 

Shannon specializes in working with athletes looking to achieve peak performance and break through barriers; emerging adults 18-24 who are searching for connection, their purpose and are navigating transitions; artists of all kinds wanting to deepen their creative processes and their connection to the work; anyone wanting to have a child and is struggling with infertility; anyone who is anxious and needs their nervous system to have a break and survivors of interpersonal violence in need of trauma-informed processing and an advocate.

Shannon holds a BA in Psychology and Dance from Denison University and a masters degree (MA) in Dance/Movement Therapy from Columbia College Chicago.  She is certified in Laban Movement Analysis and Movement Pattern Analysis.  

 

Shannon has more than 15 years of service in higher education as a prevention and wellness specialist, primarily with emerging adults.  She is certified in both the 40 hour sexual assault crisis training and the 40 hour domestic violence training.

 

Shannon has taught undergraduate and graduate level psychology and dance/movement therapy courses at Columbia College Chicago and was recently brought on as guest faculty at Bejing Normal University in Beijing, China.  She is the co-founder of the the Embodied Education Institute of Chicago.
