His interests include Cross-Cultural Psychiatry and Ethnic Diversity, Stigma Resolution, and Mental Health Advocacy.  As part of his advocacy work, he had served as a team captain for the Out of The Darkness Suicide Prevention Walk and participated in Advocacy Day in Springfield, IL, to a encourage increased support for mental health treatment.

Outside of his private practice, he spends a couple days per week working at a Federally Qualified Health Center serving the under/un-insured and at substance use treatment facilities in the Illinois suburbs.

Dr Baloch feels very strongly about providing personalized care and describes his approach as follows: "My approach tends to be more collaborative, allowing patients to help guide their treatment. I ask my patients a lot of questions to try and understand as much as I can about their individual situation. Each treatment needs to be molded for the individual, it’s not a cookie cutter treatment plan. I also strongly believe that not all patients require medication. Depending on the situation, therapy alone is more appropriate than medication and I will recommend that wholeheartedly. Often, medication is warranted and for those cases, I will spend the time going over side effects, interactions, and alternative options, so that patients can feel comfortable with the treatment plan".
