Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is a type of psychotherapy that is conducted during a state of deep relaxation

called a trance state. In a trance state, we are able to access our subconscious mind. Our

subconscious mind is the place where all of our memories, emotions, feelings, and behavioral

patterns are stored. It is also the place where dreams, creativity, insight and intuition originate. Entering a trance state is a very natural process that all of us do multiple times a day. If you have ever found yourself driving down the highway and suddenly become aware that you have been traveling for miles completely engaged in daydreaming, or have become so engrossed in a movie that you were unaware of the phone ringing, or “spaced out” in class, you were in a trance state! Trance states can be easily accessed in a therapy session with a series of guided relaxation steps. It’s a helpful way to explore, change and heal old behavior patterns or decisions we made about ourselves in childhood, or to lessen physical and health challenges, anxieties, fears, traumas or addictions. It is also a helpful process for exploring and creating future goals and dreams. During a hypnotherapy session one remains completely aware of everything that is happening. You and your therapist interact throughout the session in a safe, comfortable environment. Hypnotherapy can be used as an exclusive treatment modality or more commonly as one of a number of treatment modalities.
